About the Role

The Facilities Service Worker is an essential part of the Department of Culture, Parks, and Recreation. This position is responsible for facility cleaning and maintenance at one of six CPRD facilities, including the UCCC, Recreation Center, Active Adult Center, Family FunPlex, Ice Haus, or Rodarte Center. The primary responsibilities will be at the Family FunPlex. This role also involves effective communication with supervisors and CPRD staff for event setup and teardown.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License for 2 years with a clean driving record.
  • OR any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that enable successful performance of the essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of related experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities.
  • Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams to reach common goals.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance for public buildings.
  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Outlook, Connect2 (work order software), Amelia (event scheduling), TEAMS (virtual meetings), and Oracle (payroll/PTO).
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with facility guests using patience, good judgment, and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance

  • Oversee cleaning and maintenance of the Family FunPlex.
  • Operate small equipment such as buffers, vacuums, extractors, and lifts.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, including light bulb replacement, painting, wall repairs, and minor tasks.
  • Maintain grounds around the Family FunPlex, including gum removal, sidewalk cleaning, pest control, trimming, leaf cleanup, and snow removal using hand tools and small equipment.
  • Oversee the outdoor miniature golf course, including mowing, weeding, sign repair, carpet repair, block edging repair, aeration, trash/leaf removal, water feature maintenance, and winterization.
  • Assist with snow removal, including hand shoveling, snow blowing, operating the Gator with plow, and applying ice melt.
  • Assist in deep cleaning projects at multiple facilities during closures.
  • Remove trash and maintain building exteriors and grounds.

Customer Service and Event Setup

  • Provide setup and teardown for facility events.
  • Demonstrate high levels of internal and external customer service.
  • Communicate effectively with staff to ensure event and programming needs are met.
  • Use Amelia software to schedule facility events and support facility needs.

Reporting to Supervisor

  • Meet weekly with the Crew Leader to provide updates on staff, facilities, events, and maintenance.
  • Communicate event setup needs and space transitions.
  • Report cleaning deficiencies and facility maintenance issues.
  • Work with the Crew Leader to manage inventory and order cleaning supplies.

Problem Solving and Decision Making

  • Establish routines and standing instructions for clear operational frameworks.
  • Follow instructions with some latitude to adjust procedures based on situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Frequent interruptions and heavy public contact.
  • Required to work weekdays, nights, weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
  • Work may involve adverse weather, extreme cold, dust, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Manual labor, prolonged standing, and walking.
  • Strength and stamina to lift or carry up to 50 lbs, bend, stretch, and operate equipment such as vacuums, buffers, floor scrubbers, extractors, and hydraulic lifts.
  • Manual dexterity for equipment repair, hand tools, and operating motor vehicles.
  • Occasional local travel within the county for meetings, trainings, or work at other city buildings.
