About the role
A Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of various facilities, including buildings, equipment, and grounds. Duties encompass a wide range of tasks, from inspecting equipment or the facility, to addressing emergency repairs and ensuring the safety and functionality of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform a broad spectrum of repairs to the inside / outside structure of a building.
- Repairs plumbing fixtures, pipes and pumps.
- Repairs structural damage to walls, windows, floors and ceiling.
- Inspect and service equipment, including HVAC.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical.
- Identify the root cause of malfunctions and implement effective solutions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and facility personnel regarding maintenance needs and issues.
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, and other general repairs to maintain the building’s appearance and functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and inspections.
- Construct and maintain cleanrooms.
Supplemental Functions
- Copying, filing, and scanning of documents.
- Encompass a wide range of abilities related to using computers and related technologies effectively.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
- Experience in facilities maintenance or related fields, and knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
Knowledge & Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of building construction, plumbing and electrical repair.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Proficiency in using tools and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 70lbs and climbing.
- Proficiency in using tools and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail when performing inspections and repairs.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively meet deadlines and manage time.
- Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously.
- The ability and willingness to change direction and focus to meet shifting organizational and business demands.

Education/Experience
- 5+ years of advanced skilled work experience with on-the-job or additional specialized training and/or certification in building construction, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical.
- Specific expertise, skills and knowledge within maintenance gained through education and experience.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Position requires bending (overhead to floor), climbing (floor to platform), lifting (up to 70lbs), reaching (overhead to floor), vision (20/20), standing (60%), and walking (40%).
- Heavy equipment operation experience (backhoe, forklift, trimmers, chainsaw, and tractor).
- Incumbents required to wear safety glasses, personal protective equipment, and other non-specified protective equipment as necessary.
