What You'll Do
- Runs the fabrication department — setting up the team for success before the shift starts.
- Ensures materials are staged, assignments are clear, and everyone understands their tasks, standard times, and manufacturing methods.
- Holds the line on standard operating procedures and frozen processes, ensures work instructions are followed correctly, and verifies that every characteristic is inspected and recorded per the Operator Characteristics Claim Sheet.
- Conducts root cause investigations alongside quality team members when discrepancies arise, implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and collaborates with technical services, quality assurance, and NDT to reduce non-conformance risk and process variation.
- Maintains real-time monitoring of production progress, anticipates and addresses potential issues before they disrupt the floor, participates in daily scheduling and coordination meetings, and coordinates overtime calls when necessary.
- Engages in continuous improvement by watching for waste, initiating actions when better ways are found, and applying a continuous improvement lens to all aspects of the department.
- Trains every team member in their primary assignment and cross-trains where it strengthens the department, conducts objective performance appraisals on schedule, recognizes outstanding performance, and handles disciplinary matters with consistency, fairness, and dignity.
