About the role

Support the installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment, including maintenance of plant equipment, buildings, and facilities. Oversee manufacturing and maintenance operations to maximize asset efficiency and minimize costs through effective use of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.

Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise in electrical systems (control and industrial wiring), pipe fitting, plumbing, welding, shop machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, and instrumentation to maintain plant equipment.
  • Operate, set up, repair, and tear down automatic equipment; inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Maintain plant Preventative Maintenance Records and distribute weekly maintenance schedules.
  • Oversee all physical plant facilities, systems, and equipment; identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Participate in the Processing Operating System and ensure safety compliance for buildings, equipment, and staff.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and practices; analyze and resolve work problems.
  • Maintain production equipment to organizational standards, minimizing downtime; requisition tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of JBS GI policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food processing plant or highly regulated industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience maintaining and managing building services/systems using contractors and staff.
  • Experience with quality improvement and risk-management processes is an asset.
  • High School Diploma/GED required; college degree preferred.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance, powerhouse operations, facilities, equipment, machinery, refrigeration, pipe fitting, plumbing, welding, shop machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, instrumentation, and PLC controls in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Proven knowledge of building and fire codes, as well as health and safety standards.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented team player with strong interpersonal skills.
