Fabrication Supervisor - 3rd Shift

About the Role

A Supervisor is the operational leader for a shift, group, or team of direct labor workforce, reporting to a Fabrication Manager. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing work to ensure a safe working environment, high-quality products, and on-time schedule attainment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate direct reports both formally and informally, ensuring expectations for safety, quality, and productivity are understood.
• Communicate company information, policies, and expectations across teams and participate in daily pass-downs.
• Report and escalate safety incidents, near misses, and quality issues (NCR reporting, redlining, inspections).
• Ensure accurate timekeeping, payroll completion, and PTO approval processes.
• Issue Helpdesk tickets, request consumables/tools, and document schedule attainment.
• Write mid-year and annual performance evaluations and prepare disciplinary documentation.
• Champion shop improvement teams, maintain 5S standards, and address policy violations.
• Identify and praise strong performance, communicate design/process improvements, and track man-hour goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED and/or 5 years’ experience with GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, oxy-fuel cutting, and plasma arc cutting.
• Basic knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and proficiency with measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, calipers, square, level, weld gages, clamps).
• Experience with material handling equipment: forklift operation, rigging, and overhead crane safety.
• Familiarity with Miller/Lincoln power sources, amperage, wire speed, and consumable replacement (liners, gas tips, wire spools).
• Ability to interpret welding symbols (AWS A 2.4, ASME standards) and assess weld quality (D1.1, ASME Section 9).
• Understanding of warpage, heat placement, and part conformity to specified tolerances.
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, comprehension).
• US work authorization; successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
