Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Food & Beverage (F&B) personnel, ensuring attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous service to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner.
  • Prepare the F&B budget and monitor department performance against it, including forecasting and follow-up.
  • Monitor industry trends and take action to maintain competitive and profitable operations.
  • Collaborate with other Executive Committee members and keep them informed of F&B issues.
  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of Loss Prevention in the F&B department.
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Organize and conduct regular department meetings.
  • Monitor quality of service and product, ensuring consistency and high standards.
  • Cooperate in menu planning and preparation.
  • Ensure timely purchase of F&B items within budget allocation.
  • Oversee operations of the employee cafeteria.
  • Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, health and sanitation regulations, and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Train department heads on SOPs, report preparation, and technical job tasks.
  • Attend and/or conduct departmental and hotel training (e.g., CARE, One to One).
  • Interview candidates for front-of-house F&B positions and follow hiring approval standards.
  • Conduct and/or attend all required meetings, including pre-convention and post-convention meetings.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Participate in Management On Duty (M.O.D.) coverage as required.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts toward productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Handle problems effectively, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving issues as necessary.
  • Understand and evaluate complex information from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or a 4-year college degree and at least 3 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 4 or more years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, and liquor laws.
  • Ability to work long hours when required.
  • Medium work capacity: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
