Responsibilities

  • Perform various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, arc, and spot welding, to join and fabricate metal components and structures according to blueprints, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, including welding machines, power tools, and hand tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to determine welding specifications and requirements for each project.
  • Select appropriate welding materials, such as alloys, filler metals, and fluxes, based on project specifications, metal types, and desired outcomes.
  • Prepare and set up welding surfaces, ensuring proper cleaning, fitting, and alignment of components prior to welding.
  • Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve welding defects, such as cracks, distortions, and porosity, through appropriate corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as fabricators, engineers, and supervisors, to plan and execute welding projects, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area, minimizing hazards and promoting a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified welding program or apprenticeship is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Welder, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc with a strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of different metal types and their properties, as well as experience working with various alloys and filler metals.
  • Familiarity with welding equipment, tools, and safety protocols, including proper ventilation, protective gear, and fire prevention measures.
  • Ability to operate and maintain welding machines and tools, troubleshoot welding defects, and conduct visual inspections to ensure high-quality welds.
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and ability to work with minimal supervision, meeting project deadlines and quality standards.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy materials and working in various positions.
  • Certifications in welding (e.g., AWS certification) are a plus.
