Welder Level 2 or 3

Summary Of Responsibilities

Responsible for the safe and efficient fabrication of steel products. The Welder II is a mid-level welding position, with all work being completed with some supervision.

Essential Position Responsibilities

• Embrace and demonstrate the qualities of the TrueNorth Steel Game Changer definition.
• Follow all company safety and quality requirements.
• Mastered all aspects of level 1 position.
• Qualified in welding disciplines required for the facility.
• Able to work on semi routine assignments.
• Requires minimal help from supervisor on new tasks.
• Shows initiative to recognize areas of opportunity within current standard procedures.
• Maintains technical qualifications required for positions.
• Prompt and dependable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Qualities

• Exhibit knowledge of material identification, equipment utilization and welding equipment set-up and maintenance.
• Fits and welds subassemblies into final position with flat or horizontal welds.
• Accurately measures to specified tolerances.
• Performs flat and horizontal welding.
• Advanced knowledge of weld symbols.
• Basic oxy fuel and/or carbon arcing.
• Able to final inspect welds.
• Able to do basic Layouts.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to read a tape measure (imperial and metric).
• Ability to work with others.
• Ability to work safely and accurately.
• Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.

Education And Work Experience

• A high school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of welding experience preferred.
