About the role
We are seeking an experienced Earth Grader to join our team on a sub-contract (1099) basis. If you have a strong background in operating heavy machinery and a proven track record in earth grading, we want to hear from you!
Essential Responsibilities And Duties
- Operate core equipment such as excavators, skid steers, dingos, bulldozers, compactors, articulated trucks, front end loaders, bobcats, and graders.
- Comply with operations and safety guidelines for heavy equipment.
- Perform daily pre-checks of equipment used on the job to ensure all equipment is in safe working condition.
- Ensure all issued PPE equipment is worn at all times while on the job site.
- Maintain equipment by ensuring all fuel and fluids are filled to 'Normal Operating' levels.
- Follow site grading and operations plans, read grade stakes, and operate in medium to fine grade environments.
- Grease and lubricate all grease fittings before leaving the yard and throughout the day as needed.
- Ensure windshields and other glass surfaces are clean.
- Perform job responsibilities safely in varied and stressful environments, including different weather conditions and terrains.
- Operate equipment productively and efficiently for up to 12 hours per day.
- Work outdoors in all types of weather including heat, humidity, wind, and mild cold.
- Job site conditions may vary, including loud noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
- Be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Education And Experience
- Must have a high school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of industry experience with heavy equipment.
- Must have a valid driver's license (CDL preferred) with a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Skills And Abilities
- Must have basic math skills and the ability to read and write.
- Must interact well with others and understand material installation.
- Must be a team player and adhere to instructions and directions.
- Must work efficiently and effectively with close attention to detail.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs (two-person lift for over 75 lbs).
- Must be able to work safely in all environments with a full range of motion.
- Must be tech-savvy and have a smartphone.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
