Foreman - Grading and Earthwork
Position Summary
The Grading / Earthwork Foreman is responsible for supervising all aspects of grading and earthwork operations including site preparation, excavation, grading, backfill, and roadway construction. This individual works closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Project Engineers to coordinate daily operations, maximize production, and maintain Kinkaid's high standards for quality and safety.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of heavy civil grading and earthwork experience.
- Minimum 2 years of Foreman or Lead experience supervising grading or earthwork crews.
- Experience with: Mass excavation, fine grading, site development, roadway construction, building pad preparation, cut and fill operations, soil compaction, moisture conditioning.
- Experience reading and interpreting: Civil construction plans, grading plans, blueprints, survey staking, project specifications.
- Proficient using: Laser levels, grade rods, transit levels, GPS machine control systems, Trimble technology.
- Experience coordinating grading operations with Superintendents and Project Management teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Able to safely supervise crews while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Requirements
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- CPR / First Aid Certification.
- Competent Person Training.
- Rule 310 Certification.
- Class A or B CDL.
- Experience with GPS modeling and digital grading technology.
- Experience on public works, DOT, municipal, commercial, or large-scale site development projects.
Equipment Experience
- Experience supervising and/or operating: Dozers, Motor Graders, Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Scrapers, Water Trucks, Rollers / Compactors, Skid Steers, Off-Road Haul Trucks.
