Experience Modernization Team (XMT) Product Owner (PO)

PeopleTec is seeking an Experience Modernization Team (XMT) Product Owner (PO) to support our Huntsville, AL location. The XMT defines and delivers NexGen Air and Missile Defense Product Solutions, operating at the intersection of user research, design, and mission context to ensure the right solutions are built by grounding every product decision in a deep, holistic understanding of real warfighter needs. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical execution and program strategy, driving the suitability of experimental capabilities for implementation into the IBCS program.

About the role

The Product Owner will prioritize and validate efforts executed within a Program Increment (PI), requiring a strong understanding of engineering practices within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), user research, and UX/UI design. The role involves communicating with leadership when products are ready to advance into the development process. Experience leading user-centered design practices—including design of experiments, collection methods, and post-analysis—is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize user research, studies, and suitability evaluations in coordination with Program Management for PIs and sprints.
• Deliver technical briefings and demonstrations to leadership, offering courses of action (COAs) and impact analysis.
• Assist with the technical roadmap for implementation and integration of efforts based on maturity and suitability of design.
• Serve as a bridge between PAE Fires stakeholders, users, and the experience modernization team.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years combined Government/DoD experience performing the essential duties listed above.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Active DoD Secret clearance (required at hire; must be maintainable throughout employment).
• Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in engineering, the sciences, or mathematics.

Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Atlassian toolset (Jira/Confluence) for backlog management and professional deliverables.
• Knowledge of IBCS, PATRIOT, MEADS, THAAD, C2BMC, or AEGIS (desired).
• Prior experience as a Product Owner of a software development SCRUM team (a plus).
