Experience Modernization Team Product Owner

About the role

The Experience Modernization Team (XMT) Product Owner (PO) defines and delivers NexGen Air and Missile Defense Product Solutions, operating at the intersection of user research, design, and mission context. The role ensures the right solutions are built by grounding every product decision in a deep, holistic understanding of real warfighter needs. The ideal candidate bridges technical execution and program strategy, driving the suitability of experimental capabilities for implementation into the IBCS program.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize user research, studies, and suitability evaluations in coordination with Program Management for PIs and sprints.
• Deliver technical briefings and demonstrations to leadership, offering courses of action (COAs) and impact analysis.
• Assist with the technical roadmap for implementation and integration of efforts based on maturity and suitability of design.
• Serve as a bridge between PAE Fires stakeholders, users, and the experience modernization team.
• Communicate with leadership when products are ready to push into the development process.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in engineering, sciences, or mathematics.
• Minimum of 10 years of combined Government/DoD experience performing the essential duties listed above.
• Proficiency with the Atlassian toolset (Jira/Confluence) for backlog management and Microsoft Office for professional deliverables.
• Good understanding of engineering practices within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), user research, and UX/UI design.

Skills

• Experience leading user-centered design practices, including design of experiments, collection methods, and post-analysis (highly desirable).
• Knowledge of IBCS, PATRIOT, MEADS, THAAD, C2BMC, or AEGIS (a plus).
• Prior experience as a Product Owner of a software development SCRUM team (a plus).
