This is a permanent, full-time hybrid position located in Sacramento County.
About the Department
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) serves, protects, and supports the people of California experiencing need in ways that empower wellbeing and disrupt systemic inequities. The Adult Programs Division (APD) oversees services and resources that benefit older adults, and children and adults with disabilities, enabling them to remain safely in their homes. APD administers programs including:
- In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
- Adult Protective Services (APS)
- Supplemental Security Income/State Supplementary Payment program
- Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants
- California Veterans Cash Benefit
- Interim Assistance Reimbursement program
- Assistance Dog Special Allowance program
The Policy and Quality Assurance Branch provides comprehensive policy directives and responds to the needs of internal and external stakeholders for the IHSS program to better serve and protect vulnerable adults and children.

Responsibilities
The Executive Secretary serves as lead over support staff in the Policy and Quality Assurance (PQA) Branch. Responsibilities include:
- Directing assignments to bureau personnel on behalf of the PQA Branch Chief.
Requirements
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.
- A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with your application to be considered. The SOQ must address the responsibilities of the position, including all relevant experience and education. Applications without an SOQ or a non-responsive SOQ will not be considered.
- The SOQ must be no more than two pages in length, using 12-point Arial font.
- Complete employment history must be provided on the application form (STD 678). Incomplete employment history may disqualify applicants from the hiring process. Resumes will not substitute for employment history.
- If meeting minimum qualifications with education, unofficial transcripts must be included for verification. Official transcripts may be required if selected for hire.
- Candidates residing outside California may be admitted to the interview but must provide proof of California residency prior to appointment.
Pay
$4,345.00 - $5,441.00 per month
