Key Responsibilities
- Grow and retain membership.
- Develop sponsorships, donations, and additional revenue opportunities.
- Plan and manage virtual and in-person events.
- Capture photo and video content for future use.
- Manage social media posting and community engagement.
- Engage with members through the member portal.
- Develop and communicate new member benefits.
- Manage member and subscriber communications, including newsletters, advocacy alerts, regulatory updates, event promotions, news, and sales promotions.
- Prepare agendas and facilitate leadership meetings.
- Track and follow up on action items and meeting directives.
- Manage meeting reminders and scheduling.
- Manage email, social media, and member portal inboxes.
- Liaise with Rent Responsibly's association support team.
- Maintain awareness of local and state policy conversations.
- Support program and campaign development, including surveys and election engagements.
- Liaise with chapters if developed in the future.
- Support Board member and volunteer recruitment, applications, and onboarding.
- Provide Board guidance where appropriate, including bylaws, strategic input, operational effectiveness, and idea generation.
- Support financial administration, including annual reports, tax document support, orders and payments, reimbursements, basic budgeting, and transaction tracking.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Executive Director or related experience within a nonprofit or volunteer-based organization, such as operations or project management.
- Strong, polished, clear, and responsive communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating with different audiences across multiple platforms, particularly social media.
- Passion for building and growing a mission-driven membership organization.
- Proven ability to grow and retain membership and generate additional revenue.
- Strong teamwork and can-do attitude.
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Highly self-managed and accountable, with the ability to execute without constant oversight.
- Familiarity with Slack, Google Workspace, HubSpot, and Hivebrite, or similar tools and the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established network of New York policymakers or the ability and enthusiasm to build those relationships.
- Experience in the short-term rental industry or short-term rental regulations.
- Experience managing non-code websites and updating website content.
- Experience working with small, fast-moving teams.
- Ability to coach or advise clients and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Strong technology skills and ability to support less technical stakeholders.
- Experience creating new processes and improving recurring workflows.
- Comfortable working outside of traditional role boundaries and adapting as organizational needs evolve.
Time Commitment
Approximately 45 hours per month. Part-time. Potential for the role to expand as ESPOA grows.
Work Arrangement
Full-time remote. Candidates must be based in New York. Start date: September 2026.
