Event Staff Security

DK Security is Michigan’s fastest growing security company. Established in 1995, we began as an investigations firm and quickly expanded to provide uniform security, event staff security, loss prevention services, and more based on client needs. Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers
• Provide hospitality security with all clients, guests, and coworkers
• Follow venue-specific guidelines
• Conduct foot patrols

Success as a Security Officer includes:

• Reliability: Report for shifts on time, presentable, and in prescribed uniform
• Friendly Personality: Balance outstanding customer service with client policies and rule enforcement
• De-escalation Techniques: Defuse situations through verbal judo and communication tactics

Requirements

• At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) per MCL 338.106717(2)
• At least 21 years old and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work
• No felony convictions per MCL 338.106010(1)(c)
• No misdemeanor convictions related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses per MCL 338.106010(1)(c)
• Ability to pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana)
• Adherence to company Uniform and Appearance policy with a friendly, positive, and professional image
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including de-escalation in non-confrontational ways
• Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
• Valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record if driving company/client vehicles or using a personal vehicle for work:
  • Less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • Less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years
  • No other major violations in the last 3 years
• Ability to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergencies
• Physically and mentally sound, able to remain alert during shifts
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk long distances (8–12 hours), including navigating stairs
• Ability to work indoors or outdoors in all seasons
• Ability to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and equipment
• Ability to hear conversations (in person or via two-way radio) in noisy environments
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. if working as an armed security officer)
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
