Scope

Event Staff Security Officers provide crowd control services for concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and conferences at venues such as Pine Knob Music Theater, the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater, and Meadow Brook Amphitheater. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety of patrons, employees, and visitors at large and small-scale events.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers
  • Represent the Hospitality Security brand with all clients, guests, and coworkers
  • Follow venue-specific guidelines
  • Perform foot patrol duties

Success as a Security Officer at DK Security includes:

  • Reliability: report for your shift on time, presentable, and in the prescribed uniform
  • Friendly personality: balance outstanding customer service with client policies and rule enforcement
  • Use of de-escalation techniques: defuse situations through verbal judo and other communication tactics

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be at least 21 years old and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA card to perform armed security work
  • Must not have been convicted of any felonies per MCL 338.106010(1)(c)
  • Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses per MCL 338.106010(1)(c)
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana)
  • Must adhere to the company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner; must be fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
  • If driving company or client vehicles or using your own vehicle for work activities, must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record: fewer than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, fewer than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, and no other major violations in the last 3 years
  • Must be able to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergency situations
  • Must be physically and mentally sound and able to remain alert while on duty; armed security officers must complete a psychological evaluation upon hire
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk long distances, including navigating stairs, for the duration of the shift (8–12 hours)
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment
  • Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via two-way radio) in noisy environments
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. if working as an armed security officer)
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision

Rate of Pay

$18.50/hour

Schedule

Evenings and weekends; limited day shifts available
