About the role

DK Security is hiring event staff security officers for Pine Knob Music Theater, the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater, and Meadow Brook Amphitheater. Event Staff Security Officers utilize outstanding customer service skills to provide crowd control services for events such as concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and conferences at various locations. Officers ensure the safety of patrons, employees, and visitors at large and small-scale events.

Current openings: Evenings/Weekends (limited day shifts).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers.
  • Maintain a hospitality-focused security brand with all clients, guests, and co-workers.
  • Follow venue-specific guidelines.
  • Conduct foot patrols.

Success as a Security Officer

  • Reliability: Report for shifts on time, presentable, and in the prescribed uniform.
  • Friendly Personality: Balance outstanding customer service with enforcement of client policies and rules.
  • Use of De-escalation Techniques: Defuse situations through verbal judo and other communication tactics.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED), per MCL 338.106717(2). (Must be at least 21 years old and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA card for armed security work).
  • Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.106010(1)(c).
  • Must not have been convicted of misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses, per MCL 338.106010(1)(c).
  • Must pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
  • Must adhere to the company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations non-confrontationally. Must fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • If driving company/client vehicles or using a personal vehicle for work, must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record (fewer than 3 moving violations, fewer than 2 at-fault accidents, and no major violations in the last 3 years).
  • Must be able to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergencies.
  • Must be physically and mentally sound and able to remain alert during shifts. (Armed officers must complete a psychological evaluation at hire.)
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk long distances (including stairs) for 8–12 hour shifts.
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors in all seasons.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment.
  • Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. for armed security officers).
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Pay

$18.50/hour.
