About the role
DK Security is hiring event staff security officers for Pine Knob Music Theater, the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater, and Meadow Brook Amphitheater. Event Staff Security Officers use customer service skills to provide crowd control for concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and conferences. Officers ensure the safety of patrons, employees, and visitors at large and small-scale events.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers.
- Maintain a hospitality-focused security brand with clients, guests, and co-workers.
- Follow venue-specific guidelines.
- Conduct foot patrols.
- Demonstrate reliability by reporting on time, in uniform, and prepared for shifts.
- Balance outstanding customer service with policy enforcement.
- Use de-escalation techniques to defuse situations through verbal communication.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). (Must be 21+ and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA card for armed security work).
- No felony convictions (per MCL 338.106010(1)(c)).
- No misdemeanor convictions related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information/evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two+ alcohol-related offenses (per MCL 338.106010(1)(c)).
- Must pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
- Adhere to company Uniform and Appearance policy; present a professional, friendly image.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including fluency in English and de-escalation abilities.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean record (fewer than 3 moving violations, 2 at-fault accidents, and no major violations in the last 3 years) if driving company/client vehicles or using a personal vehicle for work.
- Ability to move quickly, including running short distances, for emergency response.
- Physically and mentally sound; able to remain alert during shifts.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk long distances (including stairs) for 8–12-hour shifts.
- Work indoors/outdoors in all seasons.
- Use hands/fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and equipment.
- Hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
- Lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. for armed officers).
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
Pay
$18.50/hour
Schedule
- Evenings and weekends (limited day shifts available).
Location
Sterling Heights, Rochester, and Clarkston, MI (Southeast Michigan).
