About the role

DK Security is hiring event staff security officers for Pine Knob Music Theater, the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater, and Meadow Brook Amphitheater. Event Staff Security Officers use customer service skills to provide crowd control for concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and conferences, ensuring the safety of patrons, employees, and visitors at large and small-scale events.

Current openings include evenings, weekends, and limited day shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers.
  • Maintain a hospitality-focused security brand with clients, guests, and co-workers.
  • Follow venue-specific guidelines.
  • Conduct foot patrols.
  • Demonstrate reliability by reporting for shifts on time, in uniform, and presentable.
  • Balance outstanding customer service with policy enforcement and rule adherence.
  • Use de-escalation techniques, such as verbal judo, to defuse situations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). (Must be 21+ and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA card for armed security work).
  • No felony convictions (per MCL 338.106010(1)(c)).
  • No misdemeanor convictions related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses (per MCL 338.106010(1)(c)).
  • Must pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
  • Adhere to the company’s Uniform and Appearance policy; present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including de-escalation in a non-confrontational manner. Must fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • If driving company/client vehicles or using a personal vehicle for work: valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean record (fewer than 3 moving violations, fewer than 2 at-fault accidents, and no major violations in the last 3 years).
  • Able to move quickly, including running short distances, for emergency response.
  • Physically and mentally sound; able to remain alert during shifts.
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk long distances (including stairs) for 8–12-hour shifts.
  • Able to work indoors or outdoors in all seasons.
  • Able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and equipment.
  • Able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. for armed security officers).
  • Able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Pay

$18.50/hour

Location

Sterling Heights, Rochester, and Clarkston, MI (Southeast Michigan).
