Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers at events such as concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and conferences.
- Provide crowd control and hospitality security services at Pine Knob Music Theater, Michigan Lottery Amphitheater, and Meadow Brook Amphitheater.
- Follow venue-specific guidelines and maintain a professional brand with clients, guests, and coworkers.
- Conduct foot patrols as assigned.
Success as a Security Officer at DK Security includes:
- Reliability: Report for shifts on time, presentable, and in the prescribed uniform.
- Friendly Personality: Balance outstanding customer service with client policies and rule enforcement.
- Use of De-escalation Techniques: Defuse situations through verbal judo and other communication tactics.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) per MCL 338.106717(2).
- Must be at least 21 years old and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work.
- Must not have been convicted of any felonies per MCL 338.106010(1)(c).
- Must not have been convicted of misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses per MCL 338.106010(1)(c).
- Must pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
- Must adhere to the company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and maintain a friendly, positive, and professional image.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations non-confrontationally. Must fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
- If driving company or client vehicles or using a personal vehicle for work, must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record: fewer than 3 moving violations and fewer than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, and no other major violations in the last 3 years.
- Must be able to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergency situations.
- Must be physically and mentally sound and remain alert during shifts. Armed security officers must complete a psychological evaluation upon hire.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk long distances (8–12 hours), including navigating stairs, and work indoors or outdoors in all seasons.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment.
- Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via two-way radio) in noisy environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. if working as an armed security officer).
- Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
