Job Skills / Requirements
- Event Staff Security Officers utilize outstanding customer service skills to provide crowd control services for events such as concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and conferences.
- Ensure the safety of patrons, employees, and visitors at large and small scale events.
- Responsibilities may include: Safety and wellbeing of patrons, guests, and performers; Hospitality Security brand with all clients, guests, and co-workers; Access Control; Must follow venue specific guidelines; Foot Patrol.
- Reliability: Report for shifts on time, presentable, and in prescribed uniform.
- Friendly Personality: Balance expectations of outstanding customer service while maintaining client policies and enforcing rules.
- Use of De-escalation Techniques: Defuse situations through verbal judo and other communication tactics.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must be at least 21 years old and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA card for armed security positions.
- No felony convictions.
- No misdemeanor convictions related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses.
- Pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
- Adhere to company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and maintain a friendly, positive, and professional image.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner.
- Valid State of Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and capable of administering care in emergency situations.
- Ability to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergency situations.
- Physically and mentally sound and able to remain alert while on duty.
- Armed security officers must complete a psychological evaluation upon hire.
- Able to sit, stand, and walk long distances, including navigating stairs, for the duration of the shift (8-12 hours).
- Able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons.
- Able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment.
- Able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. if working as an armed security officer).
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision.
