Event & Social Sales Manager

This position focuses on soliciting, capturing, planning, and coordinating small meetings (10 rooms or less), social events, and catering-only functions while maximizing banquet space to meet and exceed catering revenue goals. The role is responsible for finalizing catering-only business, recommending program and procedural changes, and executing a territorial marketing strategy to capture maximum revenue.
Responsibilities
- Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, and other efforts to meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Plan, upsell, and detail meetings/functions with clients, including space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes, and decorations.
- Complete contracts, prepare banquet event orders, coordinate with hotel departments, and resolve issues to ensure quality delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare status and period-end reports.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate and hotel procedures, products, and competition to refine sales strategies and achieve goals.
- Communicate professionally and positively with guests and associates.
Requirements
- More than two years of post-high school education.
- One to two years of experience in a related position (catering, food and beverage, or hospitality sales).
- Thorough knowledge of catering practices, menu development, pricing, and hotel policies/procedures.
- Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
- Strong communication skills for negotiating, convincing, selling, and influencing professionals and guests.
- Ability to drive to outside sales calls.
- Excellent literacy and comprehension for developing marketing plans, menus, and programs.
Physical Demands
- Excellent hearing, vision, and speech communication for guest and associate interactions.
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 50 lbs. (e.g., tables, chairs, boxes) occasionally.
- Bending/kneeling for tasks like taping cords, skirting tables, or cleaning floors occasionally.
- Mobility to service clients on short notice, including variable distances.
- Continuous standing for function observation or client site inspections (1–4 hours).
- Climbing up to 55 steps (3–5% of a 10-hour day).
- Driving for sales calls (approximately 20% of the time).
Work Environment
Work inside 70% of a 10-hour day and outside 30% of the time.

Pay
USD $70,000.00 – USD $80,000.00 per year.
