Position Summary
The Event Shuttle Driver is responsible for safely transporting staff between designated parking areas and Ruoff Mortgage Stadium before, during, and after events. This role ensures riders are picked up and dropped off promptly and safely, vehicles are kept clean and in good working order, and any delays or issues are communicated quickly to event staff. Shuttle drivers work as part of the game day operations team to help deliver a positive, comfortable experience for our staff. Fort Wayne FC home matches take place mostly on Saturday evenings from May 2 through October 24, with a few Wednesday matches mixed in.
What You'll Do
- Safely operate a minibus shuttle, transporting staff between parking lots and the stadium along designated routes
- Follow assigned routes and schedules, adjusting pickup and drop-off timing as event traffic and crowd flow require
- Communicate with event staff with any delays, and change in schedules
- Keep the vehicle interior clean and orderly throughout the event
- Report any vehicle issues, accidents, or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor
- Follow all traffic laws and safety protocols while driving on stadium grounds and public roadways
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; must pass a motor vehicle records check
- Ability to safely operate a passenger van or mini shuttle bus
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight
- Strong attention to detail and awareness of surroundings while driving
- Basic communication skills to interact professionally with fans, staff, and supervisors
- Reliable and punctual — able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts and stay through the full event, including post-event shuttle runs
- Prior experience driving shuttles, vans, or similar passenger vehicles preferred but not required
- Comfortable driving in high-traffic, high-pedestrian environments
- Positive, guest-friendly demeanor when interacting with fans and staff
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit for extended periods while driving throughout the shift
- Ability to turn, twist, and check mirrors and blind spots repeatedly throughout the shift
- Ability to enter, exit, and maneuver around the shuttle vehicle, including loading areas and ramps
- Manual dexterity required for steering, pedal operation, and vehicle controls
- Prolonged periods of alertness and focus while driving in varying traffic and crowd conditions
Work Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in the vehicle and outdoors, and may be exposed to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) depending on the event
- Exposure to heavy traffic, large crowds, and high-energy event atmospheres
