SUMMARY
The Event Manager is a key position responsible for detailing, servicing, and planning successful weddings and group meetings. This role requires collaboration with key departments to maximize profitability and guest satisfaction. The successful candidate should demonstrate creativity, problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of teamwork.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create an atmosphere in all event management areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations
- Set a positive example for guest relations
- Interact with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels
- Handle and resolve guest problems and complaints
- Strive to improve service performance
- Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings
- Ensure high meeting planner evaluation scores and implement strategies to maintain satisfaction
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships
- Be comfortable with hotel site inspections and client presentations
- Show excellent creative skills for group setups, menus, and functions
- Have excellent knowledge of Delphi / Amadeus / Salesforce. Opera knowledge is a plus
- Monitor group room blocks and contribute to overall guest room sales efficiency
- Generate detailed resumes for operating departments
- Work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups
Qualifications
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly, including weekends and holidays
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
- Able to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Adaptable communication style for various audiences
- Handle financial elements according to established procedures
- Work closely with the Sales team to build relationships with local businesses
- Coordinate and communicate with third-party vendors for scope of work, delivery schedules, product installation, and teardowns
- Participate in department events such as Quarterly Showcase and Tasting events
- Have a genuine internal drive to demonstrate consistent regard and dedication to guests and the organization
- Maintain a working knowledge of the marketplace and assist in building best practices for the resort's success
- Possess strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented to ensure cooperation and coordination with other departments and managers
- Available to work during events, including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Capable of working independently and cross-functionally to achieve goals
- Thriving in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with at least 3 years’ experience as a Catering/Event Manager in a high-end catering environment
