Estimator - Job Order Contracting

About the role

The Estimator - JOC position at WDF Inc., a Tutor Perini Company, is based in Mount Vernon, NY. This role reports to the Vice President of JOC and involves providing and coordinating full estimating services for various public agencies.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for GC, Mechanical, Plumbing Job Order Contracts and Requirements Contracts
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Create unit price bidding schedules and summaries in Excel and E-Gordian format
• Analyze various scopes of work and produce comprehensive unit price estimates using E-Gordian cost software
• Support personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids
• Maintain working documents and data to back-up estimate figures
• Afford assistance during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required
• Track awarded contracts and perform additional assignments as directed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 2 years in Job Order Contracting (JOC)
• Strong knowledge of RSMeans or similar unit price cost estimating software
• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes
• Proven experience on construction projects within the NYC Metro area and familiarity with public NYC agencies with various trades
• Extensive experience in the construction industry, particularly in the public sector with various trades
• Proficiency in estimating software and strong computer skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Effective communication skills to work with individual project owner’s representatives, material suppliers, and subcontractors

Qualifications

• Background working on small to mid-sized contracts focused on smaller-scale construction, renovations, or tenant improvement projects
