Estimator - Building Automation

About the role

This hybrid role is based in Dallas–Fort Worth and blends technical expertise with sales collaboration to produce competitive, well-structured proposals for Building Automation and HVAC controls projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed estimates and proposals for BAS, EMS, and HVAC controls projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to define project scope.
• Perform digital takeoffs and build accurate cost models with strong margin awareness.
• Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities, support customer conversations, and manage CRM activity.
• Coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive bids.
• Assist with RFIs, scope clarifications, and bid-day strategy to reduce risk.
• Support positioning of automation solutions with engineers, contractors, and end users.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC controls, or energy systems.
• Ability to read construction documents and perform digital takeoffs.
• Strong Excel skills and understanding of project costing, labor, and margins.
• Organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable managing multiple bids at once.
• Collaborative mindset with clear communication skills.

$80,000 – $100,000 per year
