Building Automation Estimator

Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Estimator to support the pursuit and delivery of mission-critical projects across the data centre sector. This is a fully remote opportunity for a controls-focused estimator who can develop accurate, competitive proposals while partnering closely with customers, operations teams, and leadership throughout the preconstruction process. This role is ideal for an Estimator, Senior Estimator, or experienced Preconstruction professional looking to play a key role in high-value BAS projects within one of the fastest-growing sectors in the industry. Role Responsibilities Prepare detailed building automation and controls estimates for mission-critical and data centre projectsReview drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirementsDevelop accurate material, labour, engineering, commissioning, and subcontractor cost estimatesPrepare customer proposals, pricing summaries, qualifications, and scope narrativesParticipate in customer-facing meetings during budgeting, bidding, and proposal stagesCollaborate with sales, operations, engineering, and project teams to develop competitive solutionsEvaluate project risks, assumptions, and value engineering opportunitiesSolicit and analyse vendor and subcontractor quotationsSupport bid strategy development for negotiated and competitive pursuitsAssist in project handoff activities to ensure continuity between preconstruction and execution teams Required Experience and Skills Proven experience estimating Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Building Management Systems (BMS) projectsExperience estimating controls projects specifically, rather than general MEP scopesDemonstrated experience supporting mission-critical facilities, with a strong preference for data centre projectsAbility to interpret construction documents, controls drawings, specifications, and sequences of operationExperience building detailed cost estimates and technical proposals for complex automation projectsStrong commercial awareness and understanding of project risk assessmentExcellent communication and presentation skillsExperience working directly with customers during the pursuit and proposal processAbility to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and deadlinesStrong organisational and analytical skills Additional or Desirable Experience Senior Estimator, Lead Estimator, or Preconstruction experienceExperience with large-scale hyperscale or colocation data centre projectsKnowledge of commissioning, controls engineering, or BAS project deliveryExposure to negotiated work and strategic account developmentExperience developing conceptual budgets and design-assist estimatesFamiliarity with integrated systems and mission-critical infrastructure environmentsPreference for estimating experinece with Distech and Niagara systems Location, Travel & Working Pattern Fully remote positionNo travel required
