About the Role
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program, ensuring written evidence of preparation. Teach within the course of study for the subject area at the grade level as prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district. Provide a variety of planned learning experiences using diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
Responsibilities
- Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
- Establish efficient classroom management procedures and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
- Develop and maintain a system of student evaluation within state law guidelines.
- Continually evaluate and record student progress, reporting to parents as needed.
- Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
- Identify pupil needs and collaborate with professional staff to address health, attitude, and learning challenges.
- Be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school.
- Interpret educational programs to the community through events like open house and PTA meetings.
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers (when applicable).
- Participate in the development of evaluation systems in cooperation with the principal.
- Maintain accurate student records and compile required reports for the school and district.
- Perform all other assigned tasks and duties.
- Ensure regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
Work Environment
The noise level is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. Remote work or alternate arrangements are not available for campus-based positions, as on-site attendance and duties are essential.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned.
- Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to perform routine tasks, duties, and procedures with specific instructions.
- Flexibility to adapt to the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
- Commitment to staying current with the latest developments in the profession.
Pay
Minimum salary: $68,000 (certified).
