About the role
The successful candidate will teach English as a Second Language (ESL) at Marcus Leadership Academy. They will prepare lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum and meet the unique needs of their students.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show evidence of preparation.
- Design lessons that accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Teach within the scope of the ESL curriculum for the appropriate grade level.
- Evaluate students' progress and provide feedback to parents as required.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a positive classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals to support student needs.
- Participate in the development of the evaluation process for the school.
- Keep accurate records and compile reports as required.
- Interpret educational programs to the community through various activities.
- Coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teacher certificate with required ESL endorsement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instructional methods.
- Ability to follow specific instructions and adapt to new situations.
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to stay current with professional developments.
Qualifications
- Understand and plan lessons leading to subject area objectives.
- Assume responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes.
- Identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professionals to help students.
- Be available for counseling with students and parents.
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals.
- Participate in the evaluation process for the school.

Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
