About the role
This position involves developing and implementing lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum program, presenting lessons that accommodate different learning styles, and teaching within the prescribed grade level and subject area. The role also includes evaluating student progress, communicating with parents, and collaborating with other professionals to support student needs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for student learning styles
- Teach subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations
- Establish efficient classroom management procedures
- Evaluate and record students' progress and report to parents as needed
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals
- Participate in the development of evaluation and assessment systems
- Keep accurate records of student information and compile reports
- Interpret educational programs to the community through activities like open houses and PTA meetings
- Be available for counseling with students and parents
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned
- Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Demonstrated knowledge of various routine tasks, duties, and procedures
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to stay current with professional developments
Qualifications
- Understand and plan lessons leading to subject area objectives
- Assume responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professionals in addressing health, attitude, and learning issues
- Teach within the course of study for the subject area at the grade level as prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations
