About the role
The University of Miami Health System (“UHealth”) IT Department is seeking a full-time Epic Training Lead.
Responsibilities
- Trains and supports the institution’s clinical systems required for patient care.
- Maintains a solid understanding of the overall integration of business applications to provide training and support to staff members.
- Communicates new policies and procedures to the institution.
- Serves as the primary support contact in all matters related to training.
- Assists junior team members in the communication of training policies, coordination of required training, and management of all aspects of classroom and virtual training.
- Maintains the scope, schedule, and quality of training as well as current knowledge of UHealth’s policies, procedures, and business operations.
- Administers training activities to reinforce appropriate system usage in the delivery of robust patient-centered care.
- Reviews project plan, monitors tasks and milestones, and reports changes/status to senior leadership.
- Provides instruction to junior team members and reviews training through the entire training life cycle while meeting deadlines and initiatives.
- Leads the communication of new policies and procedures related to training.
- Serves as the primary resource for junior application team members on all aspects of training.
- Oversees all phases of training, the analysis of new training implementation, and validation of the impacts on the workflow.
- Reviews the identification and troubleshooting of training issues that arise and delegates the work to resolve them.
- Oversees the evaluation and resolution of training issues, identification and implementation of requested training changes, retrieval of requested data, and day-to-day training operations.
- Collaborates with analysts on application changes and new features to develop training strategies.
- Reviews the interaction with stakeholders, the business community, and end-users to ensure training meets UHealth's business/clinical needs.
- Maintains regular communication with team members and leads weekly project team meetings.
- Reviews the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership.
- Analyzes, designs, builds, tests, and troubleshoot application and technical issues related to training environments (MST).
- Participates in pre-production simulations, workflow integration, testing, and validation of system functionality.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
- Leading training efforts and delivering high-quality ILT and VILT for end users.
- Mentoring and supporting Principal and Credentialed trainers while maintaining training standards.
- Prioritizing training with workflow and system changes.
- Managing the full training lifecycle, including curriculum, environment readiness, and go-live support.
- Collaborating with Instructional Designer to identify training gaps and drive continuous improvement to ensure effective Epic adoption.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- EpicCare Ambulatory/Kaleidoscope Certifications required.
- 5 years of relevant experience preferable in healthcare or healthcare-related organization.
- Experience supporting outpatient environments, with a strong understanding of physician, nurse and ancillary roles’ workflows, hospital outpatient departments, and end-to-end patient experiences.
- Familiarity with integrated healthcare workflows, including scheduling, laboratory services, radiology, billing, and inpatient clinical operations.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology physician practices' workflows and patient experiences.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
- Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).
