About the role

As our Environmental Services Lead Technician, you’ll keep patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. You’ll lead a team, ensuring thorough and safe cleaning practices while motivating teammates to perform their duties with integrity and excellence.

You will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting, as well as use specialized equipment and techniques to sanitize the facility. You’ll also learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects, and safely use disinfecting chemicals.

A friendly and enthusiastic demeanor will help you excel in this role, as you contribute to the safety and comfort of patients, visitors, and staff. A clean facility with kind staff provides peace of mind to everyone in the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine cleaning and decluttering to appropriate areas of the hospital, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash.
  • Sanitize areas of the hospital using approved tools and routines, which may vary by location (e.g., patient rooms, emergency rooms, operating rooms, hallways, nurses’ stations, waiting areas, and restrooms).
  • Use proper chemicals, procedures, and equipment to clean and disinfect surfaces thoroughly.
  • Restock supplies as needed in supply areas, common areas, and patient rooms, including soap, paper towels, bath tissue, facial tissue, bath linens, bed linens, and cleaning supplies.
  • Learn and follow proper techniques for disposal of all medical waste, including biological or biohazard waste such as bodily fluids or sharp implements.
  • Remain patient, kind, and personable in all interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Lead other Environmental Services teammates and support their work to ensure all areas are clean, sanitized, and in the best possible condition for patients and visitors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred but not required upon hire).

Pay

$15.00 - $19.65 per hour.
