About the Role

As our Environmental Services Lead Technician at CHI St Vincent, you’ll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. As a team lead, you’ll succeed in this job if you are thorough, committed to safety, and a natural leader who motivates teammates to carry out their duties with integrity and excellence.

You will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting, and use specialized equipment and techniques to sanitize the facility. You must learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects, and safely use disinfecting chemicals. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, tissue holders, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens to patient rooms.

A clean facility with kind staff provides comfort and peace of mind to patients, visitors, and staff. You are a key component of safety and comfort in our hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine cleaning and decluttering to appropriate areas of the hospital, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash.
• Sanitize areas of the hospital using approved tools and routines, which may vary by location (e.g., patient rooms, emergency rooms, operating rooms, hallways, nurses’ stations, waiting areas, and restrooms).
• Use proper chemicals, procedures, and equipment to clean and disinfect surfaces thoroughly.
• Restock supplies as needed in supply areas, common areas, and patient rooms, including soap, paper towels, bath tissue, facial tissue, bath linens, bed linens, and cleaning supplies.
• Learn and follow proper techniques for disposal of all medical waste, including biological or biohazard waste such as bodily fluids or sharp implements.
• Remain patient, kind, and personable in all interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Lead other Environmental Services teammates and support their work to ensure all areas are clean, sanitized, and in the best possible condition for patients and visitors.

Requirements

• High School GED or High School Diploma in General Studies.
• Previous healthcare experience, upon hire.

$15.00 - $19.65 per hour.
