About the role

The Environmental Services Technician at Memorial Hospital - Hixson is responsible for keeping patient rooms and hospital areas clean and sanitized. This includes performing daily cleaning tasks like sweeping, mopping, and dusting, using specialized equipment, and disposing of biohazard materials safely.

Responsibilities

• Completes daily cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Demonstrates knowledge of health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
• Adheres to safety guidelines and infection control standards.
• Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintains cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment.
• Identifies and handles waste streams appropriately.
• Follows infection prevention practices, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
• Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• Uses critical thinking and personal accountability to resolve issues.
• Operates and maintains EVS tools and equipment.
• Collaborates with the patient care team.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
