Responsibilities
- Completion of Job Assignments:
- Opening and closing shifts, ensuring all job assignments are completed properly
- Ensuring adequate inventory and storage of supplies and linen
- Assigning tasks and projects
- Managing bed tracking application
- Answering phone calls from customers and staff members
- Completing customer requests
- Resolving daily operational issues
- Operating the UV lights
- Quality Assurance:
- Performing and documenting cleaning inspections
- Training and giving feedback to team members
- Asset Inventory:
- Ensuring adequate inventory levels and proper storage of supplies and linen
- Ensuring proper storage of machines and floor cleaning equipment
- Communication:
- Representing the Environmental Services department positively and professionally at all times
- Following up on cleaning or staff issues with ability to deescalate situations
- Providing feedback to team members and their Supervisor on team members' performance
- Maintaining positive relationships and good communication with patients, visitors, staff members, and those within the Environmental Services department
- Reporting all facilities/maintenance issues to Supervisor and inputting work orders
- High-touch Surface Disinfection and Cleaning:
- Cleaning and disinfecting all types of areas including clinical inpatient/outpatient (patient rooms, exam rooms, nurse stations, etc.), support/common areas, offices, labs, conference rooms, elevators, stairwells, corridors, external grounds, etc.
- Handling and disposing of medical waste and sharps observing all required precautions, including properly tying and labeling bags
- Using proper chemicals, tools, and equipment for each situation
- Cleaning spills containing blood or other potentially infectious material using established infection control, safety, and ES departmental procedures
- Training and Competencies:
- Demonstrate competency by completing required departmental education and training
- Train team members
- Follow departmental and other regulatory standards regarding all cleaning policies and procedures (using proper disinfectants, labeling chemical bottles, keeping an organized cart, etc.)
- Perform all essential functions following established safety and infection control requirements (perform hand hygiene, wear PPE, etc.)
- Follow instructions from Environmental Services management
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Additional six (6) months of related experience may be considered in lieu of a High School Diploma/GED
- Two (2) years of customer service experience
- Eighteen months (18) of environmental services or housekeeping experience
- Inclusive of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting
- One (1) year Supervisory or Project Lead experience – internal candidates with 6 months supervisory or project lead experience may be considered
- Must complete Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification within 18 months of hire
- Valid Driver’s License required
