Position Summary

Lead others and performs environmental cleaning following standards established by the department, Infectious Control measures to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Essential Duties

  • Leads and directs the work of ES I and ES II workers providing effective communication, direction, guidance and resources as appropriate.

  • Directs or changes set schedules for areas (around the facility) that need cleaning due to staff shortages or areas that need special or additional cleaning.

  • Prepares materials to be used in cleaning processes; this includes mixing chemicals according to the manufacturer's directions.

  • Fills in on any schedule (in the absence of the normal worker doing the schedule) to perform cleaning functions for assigned area(s) which include: vacuuming carpets, dust mopping and wet mopping tile floors, cleaning and disinfecting bathroom surfaces, damp wiping surfaces, and removing the trash from their assigned area.

  • Performs specialty cleaning functions for assigned areas which include, cleaning furniture, and projects such as wall and window washing, vent cleaning, and shower and tile scrubbing.

  • Assists the Supervisor in performing equipment inspections and creates work orders for required repairs and recommends maintenance, as needed.

  • Processes and completes work order requests from all departments for furniture moves, meeting and conference room set ups, and audio-visual equipment delivery, etc.

  • Aids the Supervisor by performing daily inspections of the different buildings for the ES staff to evaluate cleanliness, productivity of staff and to determine project needs.

  • While on inspections, observes the facility to help identify potential problem areas (needing repairs) and reporting any facility or equipment malfunctions, suspicious persons, and safety hazards to supervisor.

  • Fills in as Supervisor in the supervisor's absence organizing the staff to ensure that daily assignments are completed.

  • Helps with the removal of biohazard waste containers throughout the facility of the different areas, as needed.

  • Ensures and participates in the pickup of all materials to be recycled or shredded throughout the campus, as needed.

  • Reviews the daily par levels for linen at each location and advises their Supervisor and places the order each day with the vendor.

  • Required to be part of the on-call rotation for the weekends while staff is working.

  • Distributes the duty ring keys and cell phones to all of the Environmental Services staff during their shift.

  • Helps with major cleaning caused by facility problems such as; floods, water pipe breaks, cafeteria spills, accidents, etc.

  • Supports the snow removal team during snow storms.

  • Trains staff members on the Environmental Services Maintenance Program.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Work Experience: Experience in a health care setting is desired. Experience in leading others and previous experience performing Environmental Services duties required.

  • Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Current Colorado driver's license preferred and is required in order to drive Facility vehicles.
