About the role

You can make a difference in patients' lives as an Environmental Service Technician with Corewell Health. Your contributions in this role have a direct impact on high-quality care; you'll be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting assigned work areas, removing medical waste, trash, and linens, and maintaining the appearance and condition of our floors, carpets, and upholstery. Communication and collaboration with other team members are essential to ensure continuity of service and help foster a positive work environment.

Essential Functions

  • Assigns and adjusts work schedules as necessary.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with other team members and across departments to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used in performance of duties and stores it properly.
  • Assists in resolving work-related issues and reports issues to upline.
  • Acts on behalf of the upline to assume ownership of various daily operations and initiatives.
  • May be expected to work across department sites for coverage and business need.
  • Participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate.
  • Completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of recent experience in public service and/or customer service experience in a hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial experience.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ability to conduct suitable training in the areas of housekeeping, sanitation, and safety.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-directed.
  • Ability to make quality, independent decisions.
  • Analytical and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes, and multiple interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to listen to others.
  • Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems.
  • Ability to resolve various employee and customer relation issues.
