Job Summary
As an Environmental Services Manager, you will be responsible for directing and supervising the EVS operational needs of the housekeeping department at a 400+ bed hospital. You will coordinate the tasks of 20-25 housekeeping associates, assist in training and development, uphold standards, perform daily rounding, and serve as a liaison between administration and unit departments to provide the highest possible level of service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for department’s financial data and statistics
- Monitoring of unit expenditures
- Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensure the department operates within budget
- Covers housekeeping activities with other departments
- Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises functions and activities of the department
- Establishes work standards and work flow
- Establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations
- Encourages and mentor staff creativity and innovation
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Proactive in the achievement of the facility goals and objectives
- Demonstrates quality leadership in meeting performance plans
- Reads, develops, and administers Total Quality Management process
- Additional duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Environmental services, housekeeping, or janitorial experience preferred; we will offer training
- Strong work ethic, hospitable and compassionate approach, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service
- Experience in a hospital, senior living, military, facilities, or related healthcare setting
- 1 or more years of supervisory/management experience with the ability to hold staff accountable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to problem solve both one-on-one and in group situations
- Able to use a participative approach to managing staff
- Understanding of budgeting processes and awareness of profit and loss concepts
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills and the able to prioritize
- Able to function appropriately under stressful conditions
- RCCST or other applicable sterile processing certification is preferred
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
