Environmental Services / Custodial Manager 1
About the Role
In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee frontline environmental services teams to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. You’ll play a key part in scheduling, training, and supporting daily operations, helping create a safe and welcoming environment for all. Accountable for managing people, setting direction, and deploying resources; typically responsible for performance evaluation, pay reviews, and hire/fire decisions. Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and depend on the manager's ability to influence and negotiate with parts of the organization. Progression within the Career Band reflects acquisition of broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities. Accountable for business, functional, or operational areas, processes, or programs, which may include dotted-line or matrixed management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee frontline environmental services teams in a unionized hospital setting.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency.
- Manage scheduling, training, and daily operations support.
- Conduct performance evaluations, pay reviews, and hire/fire decisions.
- Collaborate with other parts of the organization through influence and negotiation.
- Gain exposure to budget processes and operational planning.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading or supervising environmental services or custodial teams in a fast-paced setting.
- Deep understanding of safety protocols and regulatory standards within facilities operations.
- Multitasking skills with a focus on meeting deadlines and supporting operational goals.
- Clear and confident communication skills with a sharp eye for detail.
- Technical proficiency in custodial tools, processes, and systems.
Qualifications
- High School/GED or associate’s degree or equivalent experience.

Pay
Pay Range: $58,735 per year - $76,010 per year.
