About the role
This person must possess broad knowledge and experience in all aspects of chemical health and safety, workplace safety standards, environmental compliance, and industrial hygiene to serve as the technical expert and program manager for the environmental health and safety programs, including chemical hygiene and hazard communications.
Responsibilities
- Ensure environmental compliance across utility systems, waste management, emissions, water treatment, and energy systems.
- Lead responses to audits, inspections, and enforcement actions.
- Maintain compliance with DEP’s air quality permitting requirements.
- Manage procurement, use, storage, and disposal of chemicals in conjunction with Academic Affairs.
- Provide technical expertise to help departments develop Standard Operating Procedures for operations.
- Responds as part of an emergency team to incidents involving hazardous materials and chemical spills.
- Operate, monitor, and document storage tank monitoring systems.
- Serve as the General Services Divisional representative to the campus safety committee.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree Technical certificate in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, or related discipline, OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
- Valid and in-state Driver's License.
- Valid RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976) or ability to become trained.
- OSHA-10 & OSHA-30.
- CIH, CSP, CSHM.
Qualifications
- RequiredTraining in hazardous waste handling and workplace safety, or the ability to become trained.
- RequiredWorking knowledge of current Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Skills
- Organized, capable of working independently and as a team member in a service environment, and handling multiple assignments.
- Competent in the use of computers, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email/internet programs.
- Highly service-oriented with good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to impart health and safety information to workers of differing backgrounds.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with people in a variety of job classifications.
- Capable of demonstrating PCT-supplied safety equipment and lifting/moving materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- The candidate must be able to achieve medical clearance and be able to wear respiratory protection.

Pay
The yearly salary range is $75,000 - $85,000. This is not a complete itemization of all facets of this position.
