Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Plans, directs, and implements environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance and to identify and resolve EHS deficiencies and/or issues.
- Performs the following duties personally or through supervisors or associates:
- Plans and implements health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Develops and implements environmental programs and prepares/submits environmental reports in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Trains managers, supervisors, and associates in site safety practices, fire prevention, personal protective equipment, and various EHS policies and corporate programs.
- Ensures timely and accurate reporting of required regulatory submissions including permit reports, OSHA logs, and workers’ compensation claims.
- Manages sites' environmental program (hazardous waste program, stormwater program, wastewater monitoring, air quality reporting), acts as a liaison with local regulatory agencies, ensures submission of applicable monthly, periodic, and annual environmental reports, and works with Corporate EHS personnel on a frequent basis.
- Conducts industrial hygiene sampling for a variety of physical and chemical hazards. As necessary, contracts specialized industrial hygiene work to a qualified third party. Prepares and files corresponding documentation for easy retrieval and demonstration of monitoring compliance.
- Oversees the sites' workers' compensation program and return to work programs in collaboration with HR.
- Interacts with EHS regulatory agencies during site inspections (when possible); provides guidance to satellite sites on EHS regulatory inspections.
- Mentors, coaches, and supports department team members ensuring effective training is given for success in their roles. Provides regular performance-related feedback against key performance metrics developed and maintained to achieve site and corporate initiatives.
- Leads investigations of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of materials using EBS tools.
- Investigates employee Environmental, Health and Safety suggestions and complaints, discusses findings, and recommends possible solutions in a timely manner.
- Corrects measures to improve site's accident experience and suggests/implements means to achieve site EHS goals.
- Conducts new hire safety orientation.
- Conducts job hazard analyses, ergonomic reviews, and risk assessments to identify and minimize risks.
- Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
