About the role

We are seeking a full-time or part-time (with the option to transition to full-time) entry-level Environmental Assessor for our Sacramento, CA location. This position is primarily remote with occasional field mobilizations within our service area. Ideal candidates are recent graduates with an environmental degree from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site reconnaissance and document review (historical records, regulatory agency files, etc.)
  • Organize and compile data, including generating site figures and tabulating analytical results
  • Author technical reports and coordinate project-specific tasks
  • Meet project deadlines and communicate task details effectively
  • Complete project-specific tasks under the direction of a Project Manager
  • Communicate scope deviations and deliver progress updates
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Compile, assess, and research data (historical records, online resources, etc.)
  • Write technical reports and coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain records
  • Compile supporting documentation and identify project obstacles
  • Develop recommendations based on factual evidence
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Environmental, Physical, or Biological Sciences, or a related discipline (experience may substitute on a case-by-case basis)
  • Valid Driver License
  • Excellent writing, organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for all levels of interaction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience using Google or similar search engines for research
  • Knowledge of state regulatory processes
  • Internships in environmental or related fields
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Clear communication in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Ability to work in a typical office setting and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Vision abilities: reading computer screens, printed materials, and close focus
  • Regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, or crouching
  • Lifting or moving up to 25 lbs may be required
