About the role
The ERP Analyst – MES Acceleration will be responsible for leading the functional design, integration, and optimization of SAP ECC with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders (Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Operations) to gather, analyze, and document detailed business requirements.
- Author comprehensive functional specifications (FS) and functional design documents that clearly translate business needs into SAP ECC configurations, enhancements, and integrations.
- Lead the design, configuration, and testing, and support of MES integrations with SAP ECC, ensuring real-time or near-time data flow for production orders, material movements, quality data, and shop-floor execution.
- Design and maintain integration scenarios using SAP process Integration/Process Orchestration (PI/PO), including interface mapping, error handling, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Provide expert guidance on SAP functional modules relevant to manufacturing and production operations.
- Support end-to-end process in A&D environments, including complex assembly, traceability, configuration management, and regulatory compliance (e.g. AS9100, ITAR)
- Participate in solution architecture reviews, testing (unit, integration, UAT), training, and hyper-care activities.
- Troubleshoot production issues related to ERP-MES integrations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of progressive experience as a functional SAP analyst, with at least 4 years of senior or lead level experience
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP ECC (preferably in a manufacturing context), including configuration and support
- Proved experience in MES integrations, (e.g., with systems like Apriso, Siemens)
- Solid experience authoring and managing functional specifications and working in structured SDLC/AGILE environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of SAP PI/PO middleware for designing, developing, and supporting interfaces (e.g. Idocs, proxies, REST/SOAP, file based integrations)
- Deep understanding of Aerospace & Defense functional production operations processes, including discreet/assembly manufacturing, material traceability, and program/project-based production
- Experience with core SAP functional modules, particularly:
- PP (Production Planning) – including MRP, shop floor control, capacity planning, and production orders
- MM (Materials Management) – procurement, inventory management, and goods movements
- QM (Quality Management) – inspections, certificates of conformance, and quality notifications
- Working knowledge of related modules such as WM/EWM, SD, PM, or PS is a strong plus
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
Desired Skills/Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA migration or hybrid ECC/S/4 environments
- Knowledge of additional integration technologies (e.g. SAP CPI, API management, or third-party middleware)
- Familiarity with A&D-specific processes such as:
- Complex BOM/routing management
- Serial/lot traceability and genealogy
- Engineering Change Management (ECM)
- Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) integration
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle high-severity incidents with urgency
- Experience working in regulated industries with strict compliance and audit requirements
- Proficiency in tools like SAP Solution Manager, JIRA, Confluence, or similar for requirements and testing management
- SAP Certifications (E.g. SAP PP, MM, or Integration) are highly desirable
- Ability to work independently while leading cross-functional teams
