Program Information

Engineering technology degree and certificates are available through MCC's Engineering Technology program. The program offers various degrees and certificates, each focusing on different areas of specialization.

  • Computer Aided Drafting & Design - Certificate: A basic credential for employment as an engineering technician. Courses include AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor.
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design Emphasis - A.A.S. Degree: Covers AutoCAD, MicroStation, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, and SolidWorks. Elective course options are available.
  • Architecture & Civil Emphasis - A.A.S. Degree: Focuses on architecture, engineering, and construction projects. Courses include AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, statics, introductions to structural steel, GIS, and civil site design.
  • Mechanical & Manufacturing Emphasis - A.A.S. Degree: Concentrates on machine design, manufacturing techniques, and parametric 3D design software. Courses include CADD software, parametric modeling, machining, CNC, and welding.
  • Mechatronics Emphasis - A.A.S. Degree: Combines mechanical and electronics aspects. Courses include CADD software, parametric modeling, machining, CNC, and welding.

Program Highlights

The program has been running since the 1940s, offering small class sizes with a 18:1 maximum student-to-instructor ratio. Full-time students can complete the degree in 2 years. Coursework includes AutoCAD, MicroStation, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, and SolidWorks, along with general education courses.

Career Paths

Engineering technicians can find work at companies like Black & Veatch, Burns & McDonnell, Kiewit, Olsson, BSE Structural Engineers, and more. They can progress through levels of higher design responsibility and even managerial roles.

Transfer Information

Students can transfer credits to many four-year colleges and universities. Specific transfer agreements are available with institutions like the University of Central Missouri.

  • C. Rodney LaMothe Memorial Scholarship: Certificate programs only. Requires a 2.5 GPA and a recommendation.
  • Bill Ellis Memorial Technical Scholarship: Non-traditional adult students with interruptions in formal education. Requires an essay about life situation and why they chose technical education.
  • Gateway Scholarship: Certificate programs only. Requires a 2.5 GPA and financial need.
  • George & Dolores Hanson Global Scholarship: Certificate or AAS in Engineering Technology. Requires an essay explaining why they selected their chosen field.
  • Jacob Karol Scholarship: Certificate or AAS in Engineering Technology. Requires an essay describing how the scholarship will benefit them.
  • Richardson Educational Opportunities Trust Scholarship: Certificate programs only. Requires a 2.0 GPA and financial need.
