About the Role

As a Field Service Technician II, you'll be instrumental in supporting customers by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing advanced semiconductor capital equipment. Your role involves providing technical expertise, ensuring equipment performance, reliability, and safety, and collaborating with global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, qualification, preventative maintenance, and remedial repair activities on complex semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, electronic, mechanical, and software-related equipment issues in customer manufacturing environments.
  • Provide timely and professional technical support while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Interpret and utilize electronic and electro-mechanical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation to diagnose equipment issues.
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and process improvements as required.
  • Document service activities, maintenance actions, and technical findings accurately and thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with engineering, technical support, and customer teams to resolve complex issues and improve equipment performance.
  • Adhere to all ASM safety procedures and maintain a safety-first mindset while working in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
  • Travel domestically and internationally (25–75%) to support customer installations, maintenance, and service requirements.

Requirements

  • Achieve an associate degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent military technical training.
  • Have 5+ years of field service, customer support, or semiconductor manufacturing experience supporting complex capital equipment.
  • Show strong troubleshooting skills with microprocessor-controlled electro-mechanical systems.
  • Be able to read and interpret electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical schematics and drawings.
  • Have experience performing preventative maintenance, installations, repairs, and system diagnostics.
  • Have working knowledge of oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters (DVMs), and common diagnostic tools.
  • Display strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Work independently with limited supervision while thriving in a team environment.
  • Show a customer-focused mindset with a positive, professional attitude.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting semiconductor capital equipment in wafer fabrication environments.
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems, closed-loop gas control systems, and electro-pneumatic controls.
  • Experience with RF-induced plasma technologies.
  • Familiarity with robotics, motion control systems, and microprocessor-based controllers.
  • Understanding of software fundamentals and equipment control systems.
  • Experience handling or working around toxic and/or flammable gases and chemicals in semiconductor environments.
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies and root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver exceptional service in demanding production environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and commitment to safety.
  • Willingness to support a dynamic customer environment with domestic and international travel requirements.
