Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars. We are seeking an Engineering Field Support Project Manager to support our Engineering Field Support (EFS) Department in Poway, CA (San Diego, California).

About the Role

The Project Manager will manage all Engineering Field Support (EFS) contract activities, establish a network of contract PMs, and provide leadership with current contract statuses and burn rates. They will also coordinate teams, assign tasks, and prioritize efforts to deliver estimates on EFS efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all EFS contract activities and establish a network of all contract PMs with EFS efforts.
  • Organize all EFS charge numbers and act as the CAM to issue out WADs to EFS personnel.
  • Provide EFS leadership with current contract statuses and the current burn rate.
  • Work with EFS Managers/Supervisors to understand over/under run causes and work schedule variances with the applicable contracting PM.
  • Cook up new contract kick off meetings with EFS Managers/Supervisors to inform them of requested EFS efforts/activities, discuss work and hours needed to accomplish, and collect estimate inputs for Project Manager analysis and entry into the estimating system.
  • Communicate effectively at the leadership level, weighing risks, uncertainties, and assumptions.
  • Display eagerness to investigate and make sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the adoption of best practices and new technologies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration or related discipline and eleven or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least five of those years in project management.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of project management process and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Desire for continuous improvement through training and exposure for future growth to a Program Manager role.
  • Experience/exposure to EVMS processes and tools is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
  • Able to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Must be able to effectively work with multi-disciplined technical and non-technical staff.
