About the role
The Engineer position is non-exempt and reports to the Chief Operating Engineer. This role requires hands-on involvement in the day-to-day operation, service, and repairs of hotel equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working environment
- Handle routine maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness in guest rooms, public spaces, event space, outlets, back of house spaces, and grounds
- Demonstrate familiarity with the hotel’s safety systems and take corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems affecting the security or operating condition of the hotel
- Participate in the room preventative maintenance program
- Detect equipment malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair
- Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment and furnishings as needed
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
- Participate in all scheduled training classes and meetings
- Communicate with the Chief Operating Engineer on projects as assigned
- Respond to all guest requests in a timely and personable manner
Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance, or comparable experience at an establishment such as an apartment complex or office building
- Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems, electricity, HVAC, and plumbing, with certifications a plus
- A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification
- Proficiency in the English language in reading, writing, and verbal communication
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
- Experience as a hotel engineer preferred
