About the role
This position is part of the Instrument and Enterprise Services (IES) team within the Laboratory Products Division (LE) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The territory for this position is Southern California.
Responsibilities
- Repair, install, and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment products, including incubators, centrifuges, cold storage (refrigerators and freezers), and other equipment as needed
- Support on the qualification/validation of supported product lines
- Aid in On-Boarding/Training of new engineers
- Schedule and complete detailed preventative maintenance service to assure peak uptime of customer equipment
- Document daily service actions through the company work order database
- Maintain courteous and knowledgeable communication with customers to ensure alignment of all aspects of the service event (status, cost, scheduling, etc.)
- Provide assistance to the Validation team
- Act as lead engineer on a larger project
- Provide backup for the supervisor
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Electronics or Engineering required or equivalent education/experience
- Evacuated trade school certification- HVAC/R or Electronic Technician preferred
- EPA Certification preferred
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience with related science, engineering, and/or customer skills
- Show proven track record in mentoring and training other engineers with difficult service calls that require technical expertise
- Show proficiency in LP product lines with minimal direction
- Show shown proficiency in basic test equipment such as DMM, tachometer, temperature devices, etc.
- Show ability to operate computers, smartphones, and related software efficiently
- Show ability to work independently, diagnosing and fixing with schematics, diagrams, service manuals, and other user documentation
- Show ability to lift 50 lbs with assistance, and carry 25-30 Lbs. continuously throughout the day
- Show ability to adhere to customer clean room environments and wear appropriate Personal Protective attire as required
- Show ability to drive frequently within the territory and travel overnight if necessary
- Show ability to have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
Qualifications
- Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical background preferred, refrigeration experience a plus
