About the role
American Medical Response - Buffalo is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre-hospital medicine. The primary focus of the EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.
About the Program
The eligible candidate will be hired as an employee and compensated a training wage while in attendance at EMT Academy at AMR-Buffalo. The Academy is a rigorous eleven week program which qualifies the employee to take the New York State Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician exam. There is no cost for the class and all books, tuition, fees and uniforms will be paid by AMR Buffalo.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have proof of a HS diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Have all required immunizations
- Successfully complete the pre-employment screening which includes motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing and a physical agility test
What happens after passing the course
After successful completion of the course, the employee will be eligible to take a written and skills test offered by the NYS Department of Health (NYS EMT-B) and will be required to work for AMR-Buffalo for a period of at least one year. Upon receipt of the state EMT-B certification, employees will be assigned their full-time shift and complete new employee training.

Pay
Fixed Rate Position: $17.50/hr.
