Employment & Litigation Legal Assistant
About the Role
Summit Law Group is seeking a Legal Assistant to support our litigation and labor practices. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of filing in federal and Washington state courts, exceptional administrative skills, and a solid understanding of litigation fundamentals (ideally in employment and complex litigation). Legal assistants are vital team members who participate in case strategy, status meetings, and potentially bill hours. This desk supports a blend of litigation and “advice and counsel” attorneys, requiring a proactive partner who prepares case teams for deadlines, collaborates on process and strategy, and maintains composure under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Manage all filings, independently confirming jurisdictional specifications are followed
- Proactively coordinate multiple attorney calendars, summarize approaching deadlines, and facilitate weekly strategy meetings
- Maintain all electronic and paper files, docketing, and templates to firm standards
- Communicate directly with clients, outside counsel, courts, and vendors
- Complete administrative tasks, including expense reimbursements, scheduling, drafting, arranging travel, and supporting group and firm initiatives
- Proofread documents, prepare tables of authority and contents, and handle e-filing with various state and federal courts
- Demonstrate strong document-editing skills, including knowledge of Styles and adept drafting
Requirements
- 8+ years of litigation experience in a law firm setting
- Expertise filing in federal and Washington state courts
- Well-versed in legal terms, court rule navigation, and filing best practices
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially in writing, proofreading, and calendar management
- Ability to independently solve legal filing issues, research court rules, and docket case events
- Excellent understanding of tasks requiring attorney approval versus autonomous completion
- Professional and courteous communication style, regardless of audience

Pay
The salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, depending on experience and skillset, given a minimum of 8 years of experience.
